A “dog fight” is a fight where two or more dogs are encouraged to fight until one dog kills the other, or causes injuries until the animal is too weak to continue fighting.
If you are found guilty of being a spectator at a dog fight, you face a:
- Misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in county jail and a maximum $5,000 fine.
- But if you are the owner, you face a felony, punishable by up to three years in state prison and a maximum fine of $50,000.
